LEARNING CENTER, A LOVE GIFT TO A BARRIO SCHOOL A
saying goes, “Ang hindi marunong
lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan.”
This speaks richly of that uncommon value of looking back at
one’s roots, acknowledging its link to the present life and, to be
meaningful, giving back something in grateful appreciation.
So it is for overseas residents of Barrio Labuan, San Quintin and
Umingan, Pangasinan as they launch a Learning Center project as a love
gift to the barrio school. There
are about 200 households in this farming village in whose backyard of
sprawling fields lie the borders of San Quintin, Umingan, Santa Maria,
and Balungao.
The Learning Center will house a library, conference room, and canteen.
It’s funded through voluntary donations and planned to be
finished by mid 2004. We
appeal to all alumni of the barrio school to help in this project.
We also welcome any help from friends and others whose hearts
might be moved by the novelty of this cause. For
your help we say ‘THANK YOU.’ The Executive Coordinating Council
