To all my friends in Tayug, the Lunarians as well. Perhaps most of you does'nt remember me cuz I left the Philippines l956. Of course, I remember Susan Mamenta Martinez, the Magoncia family, and nieces the Basa family in Burgos street. I remember Linda, Norma, Loida, Noemi, Atty Elly, Manoling Mamenta. I was touring the Philippines last January 2003 with the U.S. Coast Guard friends. After my stay at the Westin Plaza hotel in Manila after six (6) days touring the beautiful spot in Manila and the neighboring area, I visited Tayug, visited Luna as well. Talked to Cuya Wing with John Salagubang with me, also visited cuya Flory Arzadon. I only regret, that I was not able to attend the reunion in March 2003 cuz I have to return back to California, however I promise I won't missed it next time. Susan, just want to let you know that my wife and I is going to Honolulu, Hawaii to attend my father-in-inlaw's l00th BD and a reunion at the same time. We are staying at the beach lodge at Barber's point. I will get intouch with you and your family when we'll get there. I have'nt seen you ever seen I left P.I. How's your sisters & brothers? Beautiful,beautiful pictures indeed of the Alumni Building with all its finishing touches done. It will be such a refreshing sight to see teachers and students swarming into the library and making use of the facility now that the school term has started. To Fellow Time Travelers, The HS Class of ‘64, wish you a very fulfilling Grand Reunion. May you have a grand time of your life! We do hope you enjoy the allure of travelling back in time and spending a day or so with the people with whom you have shared history with. To reminisce high school – when life was then easier, simpler and carefree. When we were not quite adults, in a perfect sense – no responsibilities of career, family, or mortgage payments. Our neighbors and elders remember us as budding teenagers then, but now we have blossomed as adults (or senior citizens) with an entirely new identity. High school was also a time for sorting out our identities and forming values. Some of us had high aspirations for the future, while most of us always looked forward to good times. As we return to our roots and get reacquainted with our classmates, we hope to be able to part with memories of fascinating and intriguing lives which each of us have lived beyond high school. Nostalgia brings the meaning of our static past to a fluctuating present. It helps give direction and hope to our future. No pleasures are ever greater than those of idealized past. To those of us who have had little or no contact with our classmates, those memories as emerging adults will always remain eternally frozen in time.

I want to congratulate the shakers and movers of the so-called “Luna Colleges Alumni Grand Reunion 2003” for an excellent job that you are doing in the construction of a building which will become a Learning Center that will include a computer room, a conference room, administrator and principal’s room and the provision of book shelves, study tables, chairs and computers. I must say that all the ways of support you have given to the Alumni Building Project will yield positive results; I feel that every student will be properly sensitized to know and cherish the idea that education is an engine to growth. To the Lunarians, I SALUTE YOU…. you were able to bring together the alumni coming from the different states, from Canada and the Middle East and for those who will not be able to participate in the reunion have graciously donated to the building project. It is surely the first of its kind. I wish you success in your endeavors.

Thanks for voicing your concerns. It is not really a radical change. It is a learning center. It is still a multi-purpose bldg.,
all furnishing and equipment are movable and can be use for other school activities. The two offices are cubicles not rooms.
The bldg is really
huge, just the half alone is more than enough for the library. The way I interpret it, a learning center is not just books, computers, shelves,
librarian and students. It is more than that. The presence of the administrator and principal there will give some leadership image that will
reinforce learning and give value or importance to the bldg.
The registration counter will be there to support students, and can be move later
when the library need to expand. The conference cubicle is for teachers and students use. The presence of teachers there will also contribute to a
very effective learning center. I think it is an honor to have them there.
Are you guys not glad that you donated to a bldg that will become
the best and most utilized bldg inside the college? I don't believe the donors were misled, all you see in that bldg. will be there to support
learning. The way I look at it, that bldg is for students, the others are only there to teach, support, reinforce the students.
That's my opinion! The coordinators were already alerted and surely we will revisit and debate this matter once we all gather in Tayug. You are all
welcome to join us. Also, you are welcome to email them so we can iron out this issue in a professional manner. Email me so I can send you their email

I concur with the observation of another alumni posted 2/10/2003. I had the impresion that the building is for student learning
and other student activities. The latest plan layout shows almost half the area is designated for principal, administrator and student registraion!
Was there a radical change of plan?

I concur with the observation of another Lunarian posted on 2/10/2003 that there is notable change of the latest plan layout of the building. I had the impression that the main function of the building is for student learning and activities. Was the plan changed radically to designate almost half of the area for principal, administrator and registration?!

I really give credits to all Lunarians who have never forgotten their beloved Alma Mater,Luna College, that nurtured & helped them became successful to where they are today. The Learning Center is on its way to completion & someday you can look back with pride for what you have accomplished, and can proudly tell to your grandchildren or the future generations that you played a part in putting up the Center. Helping one another, everybody comes around to give a helping hand, whether physically or financially. "Pannakikadua ken tinnulungan", what a beautiful culture! There are so many nice people behind this good cause, but the most deserving, are the husband/wife team, Fernando & Bella Marinas, they work very hard to update everything, from this web site to the building project. They are the shining example of every Pangasinanes. Tayug is very fortunate to have a team of the best & brightest couple. Of course, nothing is quite that simple, hard to achieve those goals, if not of Susan Mamenta Martinez,working closely with them.(the smartest,she's an innovator, initiator, & can make things happen.) She encourages people to come forward to contribute their time & money, makes an appeal to everyone to join the grand reunion. Know "Da Man" behind the "People behind this project, the Luna Colleges Grand Reunion 2003" "Da Man", the so called Webmaster, the Instigator of this well known "pangasinan.org", is doing a HERCULEAN job, with his mammoth effort in pursuing the realization and success of the upcoming memorable event. Everyone knows that he is a tremendous good influence, not only Pangasinanses but all people world wide, not only for the young but for the young at heart. Brooks Anthony, my 3 year old grandson who is already aspiring to be "Da Man" constantly ask me to open the website so he can see "Da Man" again and again. I have submitted our grand reunion proposed travel plan to three (3) travel companies and will likely get their response anytime in March. The trip on the USS Tennessee around Manila Bay is changed to Hidden Valley Resort because the ship is now decommissioned Departure date is tentively scheduled on March 6, 2003, but could change depending where flight originates. However, arrival in Manila will all be on the same date, which is Wednesday. I will post here or send E-Mail to all concerned after the travel package is reviewed and accepted by the coordinators.

To the Chairpersons... I like the concept of the a la Foundation Day Reunion picnic. It will give the event an aura of nostalgia. Just feedbacks from some families here who would prefer to go home during the long summer vacation months of july and august. It is indeed quite costly to travel and stay only for two weeks in march,and it is not even sure if the date will correspond to the holidays here.
